2008 Solo Competition Judges

Jeremy Mulholland
Jeremy Mulholland received the Master of Music in Violin degree from the
University of Louisville in 1997, and holds undergraduate degrees in Violin
performance and Music Theory and Composition.
Mr. Mulholland has been on the faculty of both Asbury and Centre colleges,
and was recently granted tenure as professor of violin and viola, Director
of Orchestral Studies, and Head of the String Area at Eastern Kentucky
University. He is beginning his 7th year at EKU.
He is currently in his 12th year as the musical director of the Heritage
Area String Program, an after-school string program which serves Danville,
and Boyle and surrounding counties by offering string classes, orchestra,
and chamber music opportunities for students.
Mr. Mulholland has enjoyed six years as a faculty member, conductor, and
director of the Stephen Collins Foster Orchestra camp in Richmond. Other
conducting positions have included directorships with the Centre College
Symphony and String Orchestras, the Heritage Area String Program, the
Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, and the Kentucky Ballet Theatre
Orchestra.
In addition to his teaching and conducting, Mr. Mulholland has enjoyed
performing on violin and viola with groups such as the Lexington
Philharmonic, the Huntington Chamber Ensemble, the Wintergreen Festival
Orchestra, and the West Virginia Symphony. He has performed solo with the
Lexington Community Orchestra, and has twice been a featured soloist for the Crawford Whitworth Concert series.

Meg Saunders
Ms. Meg Saunders is the violin/viola instructor at Centre College in
Danville, Kentucky and has previously held the same post at Asbury College
in Wilmore. She is excited to be joining Eastern Kentucky University as
violin/viola instructor this fall.
Since 2004, Ms. Saunders is also the instructor for the Heritage Area String Program in Danville as well as a Suzuki teacher with the Lexington Talent Education Association since 1999. She is also a regular performer with the Lexington Philharmonic and the Roanoke (VA) Symphony. She performs regularly on solo and chamber music recitals and maintains a large private violin/viola studio of Central Kentucky Students. During the summers she serves on the faculty of the Stephen Foster Music Camps and performs with the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra in Virginia.
Ms. Saunders holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance and a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia. She
will complete the Master of Music Degree in violin performance in December
2008 and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree at
Eastern Kentucky University. Principal teachers include: Peter McHugh, Svend Ronning, Kenneth Sarch, Cynthia Roberts. Ms. Meg Saunders is the
violin/viola instructor at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and has
previously held the same post at Asbury College in Wilmore. She is excited
